South African hit makers Distruction Boyz are set to file a suite against former boss Mampintsha in Court. The reason behind the action is due to unpaid royalties that Mampintsha has made and is still making from their 2016 jointly produced track Wololo which was performed by Babes Wodumo.
“We are getting a lawyer and taking him to court,” Zipho ‘Goldmax’ Mthembu told Times Live.
They had been assured by Mampintsha who said payments would be made as soon as the money arrives but haven’t received any money from him.
“There has been so much income that Mampintsha didn’t give us. It is royalties. It is endorsements. It has been caller tunes, downloads. Even Black Panther (the song was featured in the Marvel film). He said he wasn’t getting any money but we spoke to other people and they said they were paid.”
During a YFM Interview, the manager of the duo Sphamandla Gumede claimed the amount owed by Mampintsha is way more than R15-million and they are yet to receive any cent from the deal so far.
“Wololo was the biggest song in the country. It feels like we are being exploited and that he forgot about us. He doesn’t want to communicate with us. We haven’t even got one cent from him and it’s been two years now,” Goldmax said.
